De distilleerderij ligt in het noordoosten van de Speyside, ten zuiden van de plaats Buckie. Hij staat vlak aan de A98, de weg die onder Buckie door loopt. De naam: Inchgower wordt uitgesproken als ‘inskauwer’. Het woord ‘Inchgower’ is de naam van de omgeving waar de distilleerderij staat. ‘Gower’ zou een oud Schots woord voor tuin zijn.

Our Islay barley series has always been a mission. For many years now we’ve sought to showcase the phenomenon of “terroir” in single malt whisky – the belief that soil, climate, micro-climate, geographic orientation, natural influences and local weather systems will influence the quality and flavour profile of the spirit, making it a unique expression of ‘place’. Bruichladdich Islay barley 2011 is distilled from barley grown on six western and central Islay farms in 2010.

Kleur: licht goud Neus: heerlijk sappig geel fruit (lychee, druiven) met rabarber en mint. Daarna vers gemaaid gras met munt en licht eikenhout. Smaak: het fruit is nu van een rode kleur en wat warmer. Daarna nemen kruiden over met witte peper in combinatie met dikke vanille en karamel. Afdronk: levendig en blijvend met die mooie combinatie van fruit en kruiden.
