A dry sherry profile, far away from the modern, first-fill / seasoned versions. Great selection again, even though the 1983 is more special. Around € 300, some bottles left I believe. Score: 89/100 (whiskynotes.be)

A combination of rich sweetness with a smoky dryness and appetising spice distinguishes this lovingly-matured Highland malt. Well-paced, beautifully textured, and sweetly generous Oban. The warming richness is neatly balanced by a smoky spicy-dryness; perfect with a chocolate truffle or two. An immediate and assertive, complex, and evocative nose, well balanced and well-structured throughout with layers of classic Oban fruit and malt, introduces an equally well-balanced palate that starts richly coating then grows dryer and more cleansing, before a long and oaky finish.

Clynelish whisky is closer to an Island style than other mainland malts, with a complex and fragrant nose and an agreeable, long finish that leaves a lingering fresh-fruity flavour. This 14-year-old is a less heavyweight whisky that's deliciously drinkable and makes it an excellent aperitif.
