Deze whisky is gedistilleerd in de noordelijke provincie Sutherland. Sherry butt nr. 2090 heeft werkelijk wonderen verricht. Werther’s Echte met appelstroop, warme chocolademelk (met wat whisky), sinaasappelschil en “Caramac”. De smaken zijn levendig met kruidnagelbrood, poedersuiker, marmelade en zwarte koffie. De lange en verwarmende afdronk geeft invloeden van zwarte drop en pure chocolade. Een echte verwenner.

12 jaar gerijpt in een Sherry Hogshead. En dat heeft niet alleen veel kleur, maar vooral ook veel smaak meegegeven. De neus bespeurt eerst vanille, maar dat gaat snel over in pannenkoeken met boter en gedroogd fruit. Vers gezaagd hout met bessen en kersen gaan veel verder in de neusholtes. Het mondgevoel is stevig met tumtum, stroop, noten en sherry. Daarna wordt de whisky veel pittiger met peper en stroperige PX sherry. De afdronk is lang en verwarmend met witte kruiden en slagroom. Heerlijk.

Ook hier heeft het Oloroso Sherry Butt prachtig werk verricht. In chocolade gedoopte appel en bessen, speculaaskruiden met sinaasappelschil en vers geschaafde houtkrullen. De smaken zijn ook hier rijk en kruidig met rijk vers fruit met siroop en kandijsuiker waarna de donkerdere kruiden overnemen met speculaas en meer Oosterse kruiden. De finish is rijk en lang en verwarmend.

Inchgower 2011 komt uit een sherry butt. Een heerlijke verwenner met Crème Karamel, kamperfoelie, vers gemalen peper in combinatie met rood fruit en honingsnoepjes. De smaken zijn rijk en ook kruidig met melkchocolade, ingelegd gras, voorjaarsfruit en een spoortje koper. De afdronk is precies goed en verwennend.

Deze Glenburgie komt uit een voormalig Sauternes wijnvat. De neus wordt gevuld met honing, vers uit de bijenkorf, abrikozenjam en frisse munt en andere witte kruiden. De smaken zijn geprononceerd door een heerlijk stevig en bedekkend mondgevoel. Citroensnoepjes met roomboterbabbelaars en vers gemaaid gras. Het voorjaar in een glas. De afdronk is heerlijk zoet en verwennend.

Afkomstig uit een refill PX Sherry butt. De neus bespeurt gerst en vooral sappige perziken en appeltaart en een spoortje rook. De mond loopt vol met smaak. Ook hier veel fruit met zoete amandelen en biscuit met jam. De afdronk is heerlijk rond met weer dat pufje rook aan het einde.

Deze whisky is afkomstig uit een Oloroso Sherry Butt. Een bijzonderheid, aangezien Royal Brackla zelden gebotteld wordt. En dat is heel jammer, want het is een hele mooie whisky. Heel geurig met de bloesem uit een boomgaard met veel verse bloemen, en sappig voorjaarsfruit. De tong loopt over met fruit overgoten met verse vanille custard en dikke room. De afdronk is een frisse verwenner.

Inspired by the old ancient Blackpitts area just behind the new Teeling Whiskey Distillery based in Newmarket in the old Liberties area of Dublin City, this area was synonymous with many industries and in particular malting houses. Blackpitts was traditionally home to some of the largest barley malting houses in Ireland. By using smoke from peat to dry the barley during the malting process, the resulting peated malt produces a distinctive smoky taste profile which is the signature of a Peated Single Malt.

This is a single malt from the Yoichi distillery, Nikka's first distillery built in 1934. The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose Yoichi in Hokkaido because of the similar environmental conditions to Scotland, where he learned whisky making. Yoichi single malt has pleasant peaty notes and smokiness originating from the traditional direct coal-fired distillation as well as a briny hint delivered by the sea breeze during the aging process.

Deze single cask(s) Teeling 2003 Single Malt, zijn ruim 13 maanden in 2 ex Quinta da Alorna Abafado casks gefinished, voordat deze werden gebotteld. De oplage bedraagt in totaal 600 flessen en ze zijn gebotteld op een sterkte van 55,2%. Uiteraard zoals altijd bij whiskey’s van Teeling, unchill-filtered en geen kleur toegevoegd.

Matured in the traditional style in American bourbon barrels, this whisky is then ‘finished’ in Tawny Port Hogsheads, sourced from the Douro region in the north of Portugal. During this second period of maturation, the whisky derives a rich red fruit taste distinctive to the Port hogshead.

The BenRiach Curiositas uses a heavily peated malted barley as the cereal varietal to produce a unique, fresh, peated expression. This rare peated single malt, from the Heartland of Speyside, has wonderful overtones of peat reek, combined cleverly with a background of fruity, floral, heathery notes and an appealing presence of oak wood in the finish. Traditionalists believe that peated malts achieve optimum balance of peat-bittersweet and oak infusion after 10 years of maturation. In fact, peated BenRiach is a return to the original Speyside character and flavour of malts typical of the nineteenth century. Curiositas is a distinctive and welcome addition to the Speyside scene – this is a dram to be savoured with a dash of water.
