'Ne Plus Ultra' A blend of our oldest and rarest whiskies. Finished in PX sherry casks.

img
The Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, lays down the challenge. Do you have what it takes to unlock the taste?

img

img
Pronounced 'cull-eela', the distillery is situated on the North Eastern shores of Islay with magnificent views across the Sound of Islay to the spectacular Paps of Jura.

The oldest of three new Royal Brackla single malts launched in 2015 as part of the Last Great Malts from John Dewar & Sons. Distilled slowly, with plenty of reflux and matured in Oloroso Sherry casks, this is a special whisky.

img
This is the SIXTH 100% Islay release and has been produced from barley grown, malted, distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery. It has been matured for over six years in a combination of fresh and refill Bourbon Barrels from Buffalo Trace.

img

img
This Small Batch Vatting combines bourbon and oloroso sherry matured Kilchoman at 46% ABV with one specially selected Madeira hogshead, at natural cask strength. The result is a marriage of classic Kilchoman citrus and peat smoke with added character of sweet smoke, cinnamon and red fruits.

img
An indulgent smooth single malt matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks and aged Tawny Port pipes.

img
Reshaping metals into beautiful new forms is no easy task. As crafters of subtly smoky, sweet whiskies, we understand that hand-making something unforgettable takes time. About 12 years, in our experience.

img
A whisky only Jura could make, born of our island and still produced today in a bottle originally shaped to withstand the roughest of journeys from our home. Crafted in exceptionally tall stills, matured for 10 years in America White Oak ex-bourbon barrels and the fresh sea air with a further enhancement from the finest aged Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.

img
Russet gold, this is a complex 12 Year Old with hidden depths. Aromatic fruity floral scents with the most subtle hints of smoke prepare the palate for sweet fruit and nuts with a vanilla and caramel finale.

img
As the most northerly of the Islay distilleries, situated on the north-eastern tip of the island and overlooking the Sound of Islay, we have a strong affinity with the sea. 'So please join me in raising a glass to the ancient mariners who helped launch our distillery.' - Andrew Brown, Distillery manager.

img
This is the exception that proves the rule. The Bunnahabhain Distillery is world-renowned for its gentle Islay malts, however Moine is a richly peated, complex whisky that's as distinct as our distillery is unique.

img
Made with heavily peated barley before being matured in ex/bourbon casks, this single malt contains powerful flavours of peat smoke, sweet and medicinal, with a lingering saltiness.

img
“An honest and old fashioned quality single cask, single malt” according to the Van Wees standards, as they have been set by Han and Maurice van Wees so many years ago.

The wood makes the whisky. A good cask is one that delivers what you want it to deliver.

img
A dry sherry profile, far away from the modern, first-fill / seasoned versions. Great selection again, even though the 1983 is more special. Around € 300, some bottles left I believe. Score: 89/100 (whiskynotes.be)

img
Punchy, balanced, with a big coastal side but a sweet fruity core as well. Quality is very high again. Well done but… € 550 is a lot of money, even close to the official Caol Ila 35 Years for instance. Score: 91/100 (whiskynotes.be)

img
A world first when launched in 2006, even the wood we use for maturing our Organic single malt whisky is specially selected to nurture it to perfection.

img
*Picture is an example. Our cask strength single malt whisky delivers sweet sherry aromas, dark forest fruits and subtle chocolate with a palate of black pepper, red berries, zesty orange and soft smoke.

img
With the depth and complexity that comes from being matured for 16 years in a combination of American Oak casks and the finest Sherry butts, this expression’s warm and fruity notes are enriched by an engagingly spicy sweetness.

img
Often veiled in obscuring mist from the Foggie Moss, the distillery has long been shrouded in mystery. Yet its whisky's exceptional smoothness reveals why industry insiders accorded it a rare top-class status - and why the dram of locals and buckie fishermen has been a secret savoured for over 100 winters.

img
Richly triple cask matured in bourbon, Oloroso and virgin oak casks take the drinker on an adventure through the BenRiach Speyside warehouses. To the eye a golden summer harvest, to the nose toffee apple with a ginger spiced zing, and to the tongue layers of crème-caramel, chocolate and lime-glazed nectarine. At cask strength, the drinker can explore every layer of flavour, and choose whether or not to add water to taste. BenRiach Cask strength Batch 2 is for those who want to experiment with whisky taste and explore for themselves.

img
Specially selected for the Netherlands, finished is a Viña Ventisquero Grey Carmenere Barrel.

img

img
Matured in the traditional style in American bourbon barrels, this whisky is then ‘finished’ in Tawny Port Hogsheads, sourced from the Douro region in the north of Portugal. During this second period of maturation, the whisky derives a rich red fruit taste distinctive to the Port hogshead.

img
The BenRiach Curiositas uses a heavily peated malted barley as the cereal varietal to produce a unique, fresh, peated expression. This rare peated single malt, from the Heartland of Speyside, has wonderful overtones of peat reek, combined cleverly with a background of fruity, floral, heathery notes and an appealing presence of oak wood in the finish. Traditionalists believe that peated malts achieve optimum balance of peat-bittersweet and oak infusion after 10 years of maturation. In fact, peated BenRiach is a return to the original Speyside character and flavour of malts typical of the nineteenth century. Curiositas is a distinctive and welcome addition to the Speyside scene – this is a dram to be savoured with a dash of water.
