Roe & Co is a new contemporary blend, named to honour the memory of a whiskey-maker whose distillery was in its time the largest in Ireland. George Roe & Co helped build the golden era of Irish whiskey in the 19th century. Their distillery at Thomas Street in Dublin extended over 17 acres and they were Ireland's largest exporter of whiskey. As neighbours for hundreds of years George Roe & Co and Guinness were the two biggest names at the heart of Dublin’s historic brewing and distilling quarter.

However the amazing story of George Roe, his family and their famous whiskies, has largely been lost to history since the distillery closed its gates in 1926, and all that remains is the distillery windmill tower and a pear tree that flowers to this day.

The tower and the pear tree sit directly across from the famous St. James’s Gate Guinness Brewery as a reminder of George Roe’s former prominence in the city's life and now as a source of inspiration for the new whiskey.

Now, decades after the Roe distillery finally closed its gates, Irish whiskey is on the cusp of another golden age. Today there is a resurgence of interest in Irish Whiskey and the Thomas Street area is once again becoming a vibrant hub of brewing and distilling in Dublin. Roe & Co will be at the heart of this new vibrancy, celebrating the memory of George Roe, a true pioneer who helped build the original golden era of Irish whiskey. New Distillery Opening in 2019: By restoring and re-purposing the iconic Guinness Power House as its distillery, Roe & Co is also helping to regenerate Dublin’s ‘Liberties’ D8 district, the home of Irish whiskey during the original golden age of Irish distilling.
